Man Utd transfers: Gareth Bale won't leave ... - The Sport Review

Gareth Bale is unlikely to leave Real Madrid this summer despite reported interest from Manchester United, according to Wales manager Chris Coleman.

The 26-year-old winger has been touted as a target for the Red Devils after Louis van Gaal missed out on Pedro Rodriguez, who moved to Chelsea from Barcelona last week.

Bale enjoyed a difficult second season in the Spanish capital after he was targeted by some Madrid supporters during the clubs disappointing run in La Liga and the Champions League.

But Wales manager Coleman doesnt expect Bale to return to the Premier League in the near future, despite talk of a 100m bid from 20-time English champions.

I dont see it happening, Coleman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

You never know with football but, unless somethings been going on behind closed doors that none of us know about, I cant see it.

The finances involved for signing a player like that are astronomical.

I see the media speculation, of course, but thats a major, major deal, another world record if he was going to move.

Bale has won the Copa del Rey and Champions League since he moved to the Spanish capital from Tottenham Hotspur in a world-record 85.3m deal in 2013.

The Welshman scored 42 goals in 164 Premier League appearances for the north London side during a six-year stay at White Hart Lane before he moved to Madrid in a 85.3m deal in 2013.
