New York Jets: Jace Amaro Out for the Season | Sportsmasher
New York Post: The team announced Tuesday that tight end Jace Amaro, a second-round pick in 2014, will miss the entire season. Amaro needs surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and the team placed him on Injured Reserve.
Amaro suffered the injury three weeks ago in the Jets preseason opener against the Lions. The team called it a shoulder sprain, but it was more severe than they let on.
This is a big blow for the Jets offense in 2015 as Amaro showed a ton of promise down the stretch last year and seemed to be developing into a great target at the TE position. The Jets are razor thin at TE without Amaro as Jeff Cumberland is more of a blocker than much of a threat in the receiving game. On top of that, Ryan Fitzpatrick doesnt have a huge arm and Amaro was poised to be a security blanket for the QB. The hits keep on coming in New York for the Jets.
I will be interested to see if Chain Gailey can find a way to use Quincy Enunwa as a replacement option for Amaro. Enunwa is a big WR and may be able to line up inside from time to time he has also had a stellar camp thus far.
